Why AP US Government & Politics ve Grup Kursu?

Why is AP ABD Hükümeti important?

Whether you choose 1:1 tutoring or our small-group AP courses, our experienced AP instructors map the path to a 5. Targeted AP ABD Hükümeti preparation built around your starting point and your target score.

AP US Government and Politics covers the American constitutional system, the institutions of federal government, political parties, elections and civil liberties. It is foundational for students considering law, political science or public policy in the United States, and the exam emphasises applying constitutional principles to real-world scenarios.

TestPrep Europe's AP tutoring program is fully personalised: every lesson focuses on your specific weak topics, FRQ/essay technique, and exam-day strategy. Our instructors track the College Board's current curriculum and scoring rubrics closely so the work you do with us mirrors what is rewarded on the actual exam. Group cohorts (max 6 students) keep weekly accountability high while preserving individual attention.

Exam format

AP ABD Hükümeti exam structure

Curriculum

AP ABD Hükümeti curriculum coverage

Unit-by-unit summary of the topics we cover, mapped to the College Board's official Course and Exam Description (CED). In our 1:1 lessons each unit is paced and weighted to the individual student.

Drafting of the Constitution, federalism and separation of powers
Powers and procedures of Congress, Presidency and Judiciary
Bureaucracy and the role of federal agencies
Strategy

AP ABD Hükümeti study strategies

Strategies our AP instructors recommend for top-scoring AP ABD Hükümeti preparation. We integrate these techniques directly into 1:1 sessions and small-group practice rounds.

Memorise the 15 required SCOTUS cases — they appear by name on the SCOTUS comparison FRQ.

Structure argument essays as thesis + evidence + counter-argument; the rubric explicitly asks for engagement with opposing views.

Anchor federalism in concrete examples (state vs federal authority disputes) rather than abstract definitions.

Practise quantitative-analysis questions; reading polls and survey data is a recurring exam task.

Overview

About AP ABD Hükümeti

AP US Government and Politics is a study of American democracy: its constitutional foundations, its institutional structure and its contemporary political dynamics. The course starts with the drafting of the Constitution and the principles of federalism, then works through Congress, the Presidency and the Supreme Court in detail. Civil liberties and civil rights are taught through the 15 required Supreme Court cases. The second half of the course covers political participation: voter behaviour, elections, political parties, interest groups and the media. Our programme is particularly tailored to students applying to US universities; sessions cover SCOTUS case analysis, quantitative-data interpretation and argument-essay writing.

1:1 AP tutoring — personalised support

Our 1:1 AP tutoring is built entirely around the student's current knowledge level and target score. Each session focuses on your specific weak topics, drills exam-format practice questions, and teaches FRQ / essay technique with the College Board's scoring rubric in front of us. Our instructors stay current with every CED revision so the work you put in mirrors what gets rewarded in May.

Small-group AP courses — structured cohorts

Our small-group AP courses (max 6 students) give you a structured weekly programme alongside students chasing the same target. The syllabus tracks the College Board CED unit-by-unit and includes weekly quizzes plus full-length mock exams to benchmark progress. Both online cohorts and on-campus options are available across our European hubs.

What is AP US Government and Politics tutoring?

AP US Government and Politics tutoring at TestPrep Europe drills the five units — foundations, civil liberties and civil rights, branches, political ideologies, political participation — alongside MCQ and four FRQ types: concept application, quantitative analysis, SCOTUS comparison, and the argument essay. The exam tests required foundational documents and 15 required Supreme Court cases as a fixed canon.

  • All 5 units, foundations through political participation
  • 9 foundational documents and 15 required SCOTUS cases drilled as a fixed canon
  • Four FRQ types — concept, quantitative, SCOTUS comparison, argument — practised separately
  • Argument-essay rubric (claim, evidence, reasoning, perspective) taught explicitly

Common AP US Government mistakes

HataVague references to founding documents.

DüzeltmeQuote or paraphrase a specific clause from the Constitution / Federalist 10 / 51 / Brutus 1 / Letter from Birmingham Jail. Generic mentions don't earn rubric points.

HataSCOTUS-comparison FRQ that summarises both cases.

DüzeltmeThe rubric asks for a comparison: identify the constitutional clause both cases turn on, then explain how the rulings differ in applying it.

HataArgument essay without a clear claim.

DüzeltmeEvery argument essay needs a defensible thesis on the prompt's policy question. Hedged or descriptive theses cap the rubric.

HataQuantitative-analysis FRQ that ignores the data.

DüzeltmeThe QA FRQ asks for a description of the data and a plausible explanation. Students who skip directly to interpretation lose the description point.

HataConfusing federalism vs separation of powers.

DüzeltmeFederalism is vertical (national vs states); separation of powers is horizontal (branches). Use the right axis for the prompt.

HataStating an ideology without applying it.

DüzeltmeDefine liberal / conservative / libertarian by policy preference, then map the prompt's policy onto the framework. Pure labels aren't application.

How TestPrep Europe teaches AP US Government

Required documents and cases as a closed canon

Students learn the 9 documents and 15 SCOTUS cases by clause and ruling, not by general gist. The rubric tests these as the unit of evidence.

Argument essay as a structured product

Every argument essay starts with thesis, three claim points, and named evidence from the canon. Improvisation is replaced with a fixed planning routine.

Four FRQ types as four genres

Concept application, quantitative analysis, SCOTUS comparison and argument each have distinct rubrics. We drill each as a separate genre, not as 'the FRQ section'.

Sıkça sorulan sorular

Are the 15 required SCOTUS cases really fixed?

Yes — the College Board lists them explicitly. The SCOTUS-comparison FRQ pairs a non-required case with one of the 15 required cases, so memorising the canon is non-negotiable.

Is AP US Gov easier than APUSH?

Different — AP US Gov is narrower and more institutional; APUSH is broader and more narrative. Many students take both, often in different years.

How much current-events knowledge is needed?

Useful for examples, but the exam doesn't test specific recent events. Knowing the institutions and cases matters more than recent news.

How many tutoring hours are typical?

Students with a humanities base usually book 30–50 hours; students new to AP-style writing often book more. We start with a free diagnostic.
