Whether you choose 1:1 tutoring or our small-group AP courses, our experienced AP instructors map the path to a 5. Targeted AP Karşılaştırmalı Hükümet preparation built around your starting point and your target score.
AP Comparative Government and Politics compares the political systems of six countries — the United Kingdom, Russia, China, Iran, Mexico and Nigeria — and uses them to develop a general framework for analysing regimes worldwide. It is uniquely suited to students interested in international relations, diplomacy and global studies.
TestPrep Europe's AP tutoring program is fully personalised: every lesson focuses on your specific weak topics, FRQ/essay technique, and exam-day strategy. Our instructors track the College Board's current curriculum and scoring rubrics closely so the work you do with us mirrors what is rewarded on the actual exam. Group cohorts (max 6 students) keep weekly accountability high while preserving individual attention.
Review the section-by-section breakdown of the AP Karşılaştırmalı Hükümet exam, administered worldwide by the College Board every May. Each section is drilled separately in our 1:1 and small-group programs so you build strategy for the parts of the test that matter most to your score.
55 questions in 1 hour 20 minutes.
4 questions in 1 hour 40 minutes: concept definition, country comparison and argument development.
Unit-by-unit summary of the topics we cover, mapped to the College Board's official Course and Exam Description (CED). In our 1:1 lessons each unit is paced and weighted to the individual student.
Strategies our AP instructors recommend for top-scoring AP Karşılaştırmalı Hükümet preparation. We integrate these techniques directly into 1:1 sessions and small-group practice rounds.
Build thematic comparison tables across the six countries (regime type, electoral system, judiciary, civil society).
Track current political events in each country — exam questions often touch on contemporary developments.
On comparison FRQs, present both similarities and differences explicitly.
Anchor every concept (sovereignty, legitimacy, cleavage) to a concrete country example.
AP Comparative Government and Politics teaches the comparative analysis of political systems through six case-study countries. The United Kingdom illustrates a stable parliamentary democracy; China, an authoritarian one-party state; Iran, a theocratic republic; Russia, a semi-authoritarian system; Mexico, a transitional democracy; and Nigeria, a developing democracy. Our programme builds detailed profiles of each country, comparison matrices across the major themes (regime type, institutions, civil society, political economy) and weekly current-events analysis to keep the country studies up to date.
Our 1:1 AP tutoring is built entirely around the student's current knowledge level and target score. Each session focuses on your specific weak topics, drills exam-format practice questions, and teaches FRQ / essay technique with the College Board's scoring rubric in front of us. Our instructors stay current with every CED revision so the work you put in mirrors what gets rewarded in May.
Our small-group AP courses (max 6 students) give you a structured weekly programme alongside students chasing the same target. The syllabus tracks the College Board CED unit-by-unit and includes weekly quizzes plus full-length mock exams to benchmark progress. Both online cohorts and on-campus options are available across our European hubs.
AP Comparative Government and Politics tutoring at TestPrep Europe covers the six course countries — China, Iran, Mexico, Nigeria, Russia, the United Kingdom — across MCQ and four FRQ types: conceptual analysis, quantitative analysis, comparative analysis, argument essay. The exam rewards specific country examples used to illustrate political concepts, not country biographies.
HataCountry-biography answers without conceptual framing.
DüzeltmeConcepts come first; country examples illustrate them. The rubric tests concepts, not country trivia.
HataConfusing parliamentary and presidential systems under pressure.
DüzeltmeTabulate UK / Mexico / Russia / Nigeria / Iran / China by executive type and rehearse the table before each FRQ practice.
HataVague evidence ('Russia has elections too').
DüzeltmeUse specific institutions, named leaders, and dated reforms. Specificity separates 4s from 5s on the rubric.
HataComparative FRQ that lists facts about each country.
DüzeltmeComparative FRQs ask for a similarity or difference and an explanation; pure listing without comparison earns nothing.
HataArgument essay without a perspective acknowledgement.
DüzeltmeThe rubric awards a point for engaging with an alternative or opposing perspective; students who write a one-sided essay forfeit it.
HataMixing up hybrid regime vs authoritarian regime classifications.
DüzeltmeUse the course definitions of regime type and apply them by criterion (elections, civil liberties, rule of law) rather than by intuition.
Sovereignty, legitimacy, state, regime, government
UK and Mexico
Russia, Nigeria, Iran, China
All four FRQ types
Each topic is taught as a concept with the six countries as worked examples, not as six separate country units. This matches the rubric, which tests concepts.
We maintain comparison grids — executive type, legislature, electoral system, federal structure, civil liberties — across all six countries, so any comparative FRQ has ready evidence.
Students rehearse a fixed structure for the argument essay: thesis, two claim points with evidence, and one engagement with an alternative perspective. The perspective point is the most commonly missed.
The College Board chose them to span regime types and regions: a Westminster democracy (UK), a presidential democracy (Mexico), a federal hybrid regime (Russia), a federal democracy with weak rule of law (Nigeria), a theocracy (Iran), and a one-party state (China).
Less than students assume. Memorising six country profiles is not the goal; applying concepts using country examples is. We teach by concept first.
Often yes — students from outside the US are usually more comfortable comparing political systems. The main work is learning the AP rubric and FRQ writing style.
Students with a humanities or political-science background usually book 25–45 hours; students new to political science often book more. We start with a free diagnostic.
