Why is AP Makroekonomi important?
Whether you choose 1:1 tutoring or our small-group AP courses, our experienced AP instructors map the path to a 5. Targeted AP Makroekonomi preparation built around your starting point and your target score.
AP Macroeconomics develops the conceptual tools for analysing whole economies — GDP, unemployment, inflation, growth, business cycles and policy. It pairs naturally with AP Microeconomics and is foundational for any university programme in economics, finance, public policy or international relations.
TestPrep Europe's AP tutoring program is fully personalised: every lesson focuses on your specific weak topics, FRQ/essay technique, and exam-day strategy. Our instructors track the College Board's current curriculum and scoring rubrics closely so the work you do with us mirrors what is rewarded on the actual exam. Group cohorts (max 6 students) keep weekly accountability high while preserving individual attention.
AP Makroekonomi exam structure
Review the section-by-section breakdown of the AP Makroekonomi exam, administered worldwide by the College Board every May. Each section is drilled separately in our 1:1 and small-group programs so you build strategy for the parts of the test that matter most to your score.
Section I: Multiple Choice
66%60 questions in 1 hour 10 minutes. Calculator permitted.
Section II: Free Response
33%3 questions (1 long + 2 short) in 1 hour. Diagram-driven analysis of macroeconomic policy.
AP Makroekonomi curriculum coverage
Unit-by-unit summary of the topics we cover, mapped to the College Board's official Course and Exam Description (CED). In our 1:1 lessons each unit is paced and weighted to the individual student.
AP Makroekonomi study strategies
Strategies our AP instructors recommend for top-scoring AP Makroekonomi preparation. We integrate these techniques directly into 1:1 sessions and small-group practice rounds.
The AD/AS diagram is to AP Macro what S/D is to AP Micro — draw it from memory in your sleep, with every shifter labelled.
Know the chain reactions of monetary and fiscal policy: "open-market purchase → bank reserves up → money supply up → interest rate down → investment up → AD right → output and price level up". Drill these chains.
On loanable-funds and money-market questions, label both axes correctly (real interest rate vs nominal interest rate) — students who confuse them lose easy points.
Practise the Phillips-curve and long-run growth FRQs separately; they appear almost every year and have predictable rubric structures.
About AP Makroekonomi
AP Macroeconomics covers the analysis of whole economies — output, inflation, unemployment, the financial sector, the role of government and the global economy. The course is built around the aggregate demand and aggregate supply (AD/AS) model and the loanable-funds and money-market frameworks. Students analyse the effects of fiscal and monetary policy under different macroeconomic conditions, including liquidity traps and supply-side shocks. Our programme tightly couples Micro and Macro for students taking both, since the marginal cost of preparing for the second exam after the first is small and the diagram and FRQ-writing skills transfer almost directly.
1:1 AP tutoring — personalised support
Our 1:1 AP tutoring is built entirely around the student's current knowledge level and target score. Each session focuses on your specific weak topics, drills exam-format practice questions, and teaches FRQ / essay technique with the College Board's scoring rubric in front of us. Our instructors stay current with every CED revision so the work you put in mirrors what gets rewarded in May.
Small-group AP courses — structured cohorts
Our small-group AP courses (max 6 students) give you a structured weekly programme alongside students chasing the same target. The syllabus tracks the College Board CED unit-by-unit and includes weekly quizzes plus full-length mock exams to benchmark progress. All cohorts are delivered live online, so students can join from anywhere in Europe.
What is AP Macroeconomics tutoring?
AP Macroeconomics tutoring at TestPrep Europe drills the six College Board units — basic concepts through international economics — across MCQ and FRQ formats. The exam rewards labelled diagrams (AD-AS, money market, loanable funds, foreign exchange) and the cause-and-effect chains that link them, so we treat diagrams as the spine of every answer.
- All 6 units, basic concepts through international macro
- Core diagrams (AD-AS, money market, Phillips, FX) drilled to reflex
- Cause-and-effect chain writing taught explicitly for FRQ part (c) / (d)
- Released FRQs scored against the official rubric
Common AP Macroeconomics mistakes
HataDiagrams without labelled axes, curves and equilibrium points.
DüzeltmeAlways label both axes, original and new curves, and both equilibrium points before writing prose. Unlabelled diagrams cap the rubric mark.
HataConfusing the money market with loanable funds.
DüzeltmeMoney market: nominal interest rate vs quantity of money. Loanable funds: real interest rate vs quantity of loanable funds. Pick the right diagram for the prompt.
HataForgetting which curve shifts under fiscal vs monetary policy.
DüzeltmeFiscal policy shifts AD directly via G or T; monetary policy shifts MS, then interest rates, then I, then AD. Write the chain out.
HataWrong direction on the FX market.
DüzeltmeDecide whether the home currency is on the y-axis before drawing; appreciation moves the price up, depreciation down. Mislabelling kills the diagram.
HataSaying 'inflation' without distinguishing demand-pull vs cost-push.
DüzeltmeTie every inflation explanation to a named source — AD shift right (demand-pull) or SRAS shift left (cost-push).
HataTreating Phillips curve as one diagram.
DüzeltmeShort-run Phillips trades inflation against unemployment; long-run is vertical at NAIRU. Specify which is being used and why.

How TestPrep Europe teaches AP Macroeconomics
Diagram-first answers
Every FRQ starts with a fully labelled diagram before any prose. The diagram earns rubric points and constrains the explanation that follows.
Cause-and-effect chains
FRQ part (c) / (d) typically asks 'using a correctly labelled graph of …, show the effect on …'. We drill the linked chain — policy → curve → variable — as a unit.
Three markets in parallel
The money market, loanable funds market and FX market are taught side by side because students who learn them sequentially keep mixing the axes under exam pressure.
Sıkça sorulan sorular
Should I take Macro or Micro first?
Either order works; many schools teach Macro first because the diagrams build directly on supply and demand. We support whichever order the student's school uses.
How important are the diagrams?
Diagrams are graded explicitly on the FRQ rubric and they constrain the explanation that follows. Students who skip diagrams or label them poorly almost always under-score.
Do I need a maths background?
Algebra II is enough; the exam stays at proportional reasoning and basic graph interpretation. No calculus is required.
How many tutoring hours are typical?
Students new to economics usually book 30–50 hours; students who have already taken IB Economics SL or similar often book less. We start with a free diagnostic.
