Why AP African American Studies ve Grup Kursu?

Why is AP Afro-Amerikan Çalışmaları important?

Whether you choose 1:1 tutoring or our small-group AP courses, our experienced AP instructors map the path to a 5. Targeted AP Afro-Amerikan Çalışmaları preparation built around your starting point and your target score.

AP African American Studies is an interdisciplinary course that builds historical, literary, visual and data-analysis skills together. It launched officially in 2024-25 after two years of piloting, and may satisfy some universities' Ethnic Studies requirement. For students heading towards the social sciences, history, law or international relations, it evidences both source analysis and the ability to run an independent research project.

TestPrep Europe's AP tutoring program is fully personalised: every lesson focuses on your specific weak topics, FRQ/essay technique, and exam-day strategy. Our instructors track the College Board's current curriculum and scoring rubrics closely so the work you do with us mirrors what is rewarded on the actual exam. Group cohorts (max 6 students) keep weekly accountability high while preserving individual attention.

Exam format

AP Afro-Amerikan Çalışmaları exam structure

Review the section-by-section breakdown of the AP Afro-Amerikan Çalışmaları exam, administered worldwide by the College Board every May. Each section is drilled separately in our 1:1 and small-group programs so you build strategy for the parts of the test that matter most to your score.

60%

60 questions in 1 hour 10 minutes, as sets of 3-4 questions sharing a source.

Section I-B: Individual Project Exam-Day Validation

Section II: Free Response

30%

Curriculum

AP Afro-Amerikan Çalışmaları curriculum coverage

Unit-by-unit summary of the topics we cover, mapped to the College Board's official Course and Exam Description (CED). In our 1:1 lessons each unit is paced and weighted to the individual student.

West African kingdoms and social structures
Trade networks, religion and cultural production
Formation of the diaspora — 20-25% of the exam
Strategy

AP Afro-Amerikan Çalışmaları study strategies

Strategies our AP instructors recommend for top-scoring AP Afro-Amerikan Çalışmaları preparation. We integrate these techniques directly into 1:1 sessions and small-group practice rounds.

Start the individual research project early: it and the exam-day validation question are 10% of the score, and it is not a last-week job.

Treat the DBQ's minimum-three-sources rule as a mechanical checklist — thesis, contextualisation, source analysis and additional evidence each earn separate points.

This is not only history: poems, visual works and data tables all appear as sources. Develop a reading method for each type.

Unit 2 is the heaviest part of the exam at 30-35%; weight your revision time accordingly.

Overview

About AP Afro-Amerikan Çalışmaları

AP African American Studies examines the experiences of the African diaspora through direct encounters with primary and secondary sources. After pilots in 60 schools (2022-23) and nearly 700 schools (2023-24), it launched officially in the 2024-25 school year. The course runs across four units from early African kingdoms to the contemporary moment, and is built to develop historical, literary, visual and data-analysis skills together. What distinguishes the assessment is a three-week independent research project: it is scored by teachers against a College Board rubric and confirmed on exam day by a validation question, together making up 10% of the AP score. The exam is delivered entirely in the Bluebook app. Our programme drills both the DBQ and short-answer technique and the source selection, thesis construction and oral defence stages of the research project.

1:1 AP tutoring — personalised support

Our 1:1 AP tutoring is built entirely around the student's current knowledge level and target score. Each session focuses on your specific weak topics, drills exam-format practice questions, and teaches FRQ / essay technique with the College Board's scoring rubric in front of us. Our instructors stay current with every CED revision so the work you put in mirrors what gets rewarded in May.

Small-group AP courses — structured cohorts

Our small-group AP courses (max 6 students) give you a structured weekly programme alongside students chasing the same target. The syllabus tracks the College Board CED unit-by-unit and includes weekly quizzes plus full-length mock exams to benchmark progress. All cohorts are delivered live online, so students can join from anywhere in Europe.
