IB Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches develops abstract mathematical thinking, proof and analysis. It is the most suitable IB maths option for students planning to study mathematics, physics, engineering, economics or computer science at university.

What is IB Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches tutoring?
IB Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches (AA) tutoring at TestPrep Europe covers the Standard Level and Higher Level courses on the IB syllabus, with full Internal Assessment support. AA is the more theoretical of the two IB maths courses — proof, calculus and algebraic manipulation are weighted more than statistical modelling. Required for most engineering and pure-maths university applications.

How TestPrep Europe teaches IB Math AA
Paper 1 algebraic reflexes
Most students under-prepare the no-calculator paper. We schedule a weekly Paper 1 block from Year 1 onwards so manipulation stays sharp.
IA scaffolding with academic integrity
The IA is coached as a research project: topic selection, exploration, refinement, conclusion. We never write the IA for the student — that would be a clear academic-integrity breach. We coach the process and review drafts against the IB rubric.
HL Paper 3 communication
Paper 3 rewards mathematical exposition. Students draft, get scored against the IB criteria, and rewrite — the same loop we use for the AP Stats FRQ.

AA or AI — which IB maths should I choose?
AA is more theoretical (calculus, proof, algebraic manipulation) and required for most pure-maths and engineering courses. AI is more applied (modelling, statistics) and accepted for many social-science, business and design courses. Always check the target university's stated requirement.
Is HL or SL accepted for engineering?
Most engineering courses require AA HL specifically. AA SL is rarely accepted on its own for engineering at competitive universities.
How does IA support work without crossing the academic-integrity line?
We coach the process — topic, methodology, structure, drafts — and give feedback against the IB rubric. We do not write content for the student. Final submitted work must be the student's own; that's an IB rule and we follow it strictly.
Which calculator is allowed on IB Math AA?
The IB allows specific GDC (graphing display calculator) models — TI-84 family, TI-Nspire CX (non-CAS) and Casio fx-CG50 are common. Always confirm the school's approved list.
