TR-YOS score calculator

Enter your correct and wrong answers in the Numerical Aptitude and Basic Mathematics tests to get your raw scores by the rule in ÖSYM's guide. We also walk through how the 100–500 TR-YOS score is formed; only ÖSYM can take the last step, so we do not guess that score.

How ÖSYM works out the score

  1. The exam has two tests: the Numerical Aptitude Test (40 questions) and the Basic Mathematics Test (40 questions).

  2. Each test's raw score is your correct answers minus a quarter of your wrong answers. A blank question changes nothing.

  3. ÖSYM takes every candidate in the session, finds each test's mean and standard deviation, and turns raw scores into standard scores with a mean of 50 and a standard deviation of 10.

  4. The standard scores are weighted 0.45 for Numerical Aptitude and 0.55 for Basic Mathematics. A weighted score is only calculated for candidates with a raw score of 0.5 or more in at least one test.

  5. The weighted scores are rescaled so that the session's lowest becomes 100 and its highest 500: that is the TR-YOS score.

What this cannot tell you

  • The TR-YOS score (100–500) depends on everyone who sat the same session: each test's mean and standard deviation, and the session's lowest and highest weighted scores. Only ÖSYM has those numbers, so this page shows no 100–500 score.

  • The standard-score fields are optional. If you know a session's mean and standard deviation, enter them to see your standard and weighted scores against that session. Another session's figures are not the same as yours.

  • Each university publishes its own minimum scores and admission rules on its website (guide, 1.7). Some universities also admit through exams of their own; their scoring is not covered here.

  • A TR-YOS result is valid for 2 years from the exam date (guide, 1.8).

Frequently asked questions

Do wrong answers cost marks in the TR-YOS?▾

Yes. ÖSYM's guide takes a quarter of your wrong answers away from your correct answers in each test, so four wrong answers cancel one right one. Blank questions cost nothing.

Can I work out my TR-YOS score from my raw scores?▾

Not exactly. Scores are standardised against the mean and standard deviation of everyone in your session, then rescaled so the session's lowest weighted score is 100 and the highest 500. Only ÖSYM knows those figures.

Which test carries more weight?▾

Basic Mathematics. The standard scores are weighted 0.45 for Numerical Aptitude and 0.55 for Basic Mathematics.

When is no score calculated?▾

If neither test gives you a raw score of 0.5 or more, ÖSYM calculates no weighted score, and so no TR-YOS score.

Is anything I enter sent anywhere?▾

No. The sums run in your browser; nothing you enter is sent or stored, and you do not need an account.
